Pilots Unable to Access Cockpit, American Airlines Flight Delayed

American Airlines Flight #AA2140, preparing to operate from Dallas to California, was delayed by approximately 90 minutes after the pilots were unable to access the cockpit.

According to reports, the captain explained that the cockpit door had latched shut with no one inside, preventing the flight crew from entering the flight deck.

To resolve the issue, a maintenance technician climbed onto the nose of the Boeing 737 and entered through the cockpit side window, opening the door from the inside. An inspection later determined that the cockpit door latch mechanism had become stuck.

After maintenance crews lubricated the mechanism and resolved the issue, boarding resumed. Following the approximately 90-minute delay, the aircraft departed as planned and arrived safely at Monterey Regional Airport.
